"People don't even understand the written word."
It is true to say that I do struggle to understand some of your written words, Dr-Ew
But, then being a sinner, I don’t have god’s sprit to help me.
i now find it idiotic that i could ever beleive the bible to be the inspired word of god.....,throughout the bible "god"has only dealt with a few of his favoured spokespersons to deliver his messages to a minority populace.individuals at first,..... then, patriarchs, nomads,a small nation, ignoring all other nations that had sprung up.......,abandoning his chosen nation, sending his "son"to a small nation, only giving them his pearls of wisdom, much of what was not even recorded for prosperity and remember he never wrote a word,it was left up to other imperfect humans to record what he was supposed to have said, just a smidgen......,again ignoring the bulk of humankind keeping them in ignorance of his plan for universal salvation, leaving it all up to imperfect humans to spread this message of salvation, whom he has already condemned for their sinfullness and disobedience.i just find it so unbeleivable.
in the 6000 years of recorded history only a fraction of the earths population, maybe less than a third have ever heard of the god of the bible, or his so called plan to redeem humankind ,thats millions and millions of people.

and please don't do so with the standard "i don't know the answer - but there surely must be one.
" or some other lame attempt to defend god/bible without a real explanation.. here goes:.
i find it incredibly interesting how hard the mind works to prevent rational thought when it suits it's purpose.
I find it incredibly interesting how hard the mind works to prevent rational thought when it suits it's purpose. It seems capable of any level of cognitive hide and seek, in order to escape rationality/believe myths to be history.
This how the human mind works, not just with religion but also how we choose to remember events, conversations and arguments. The mind is a tool that works hard to keep an emotional equilibrium and balance in our individual world.
The mind is capable of great treachery. To be totally rational takes many years of training. Total rationality can take us out of our comfort zone. So in order to enjoy our lives we have to develop and employ the art of compromise.

The number of people that God can communicate with at any one time is entirely dependent on how many people imagine they are hearing from God.
The appeal of religious assemblies is that once group hypnosis kicks in, the shared experience is proof to believers that God exists and communicates with them.
The concept of God is as alive as we choose to allow it to be in our individual mind. Believers don’t believe me, which means they are actually non-believers.
George you have nailed it!
That’s the elder - the one on the left - and his weird looking weird look girlfriend in a suit. God damn it!
or do your fingers move fluidly across the keyboard when you type?.
i admit, i'm far more proficient with letters than i am with numbers and symbols..
I have a pecker and I am willing to discuss that with you - but my typing is none of your business.
i was born as a third generation (perhaps even fourth gen. but my great great grandfather never got baptized) jw.
i remember that when i was young, perhaps about five years old, i would think about jehovah as this big black ghost with yellow eyes.
to me he was quite frightening, and i was constantly catious not to piss him off.
Looking back now, from my ivory tower, I now realize that I did not truly believe in the bastard in the sky. I sought to please my family; they sought to please their god and gain everlasting life.
Being a child I confused the two. Now I see clearly, unlike the dim sighted apostle (saint) Paul. Oh! The angust.
a couple of years ago, a psychologist i know made the off-handed comment that there is conclusive evidence that "atheists are not as happy as the ordinary, average person?
we tossed that subject around for a few minutes and then moved on to something else.
at the time, i didn't think too much about it.
"In my opinion, "believers" simply cannot perceive a state of NON-belief... "
Believers in the existence of God, are disbelievers in the non-existence of a god. So they are in fact themselves, disbelievers.
They also reject hundreds of other people’s gods in favour of their god, which they give a capital letter to, in an attempt to infer that it is - The only God. Why can there not be hundreds of gods? Believers are, in fact, the ultimate disbelievers.
i am atheist now.
but when i was a jw.
i used to wonder since everything was created by god.
Re: Who created God.
Those that believe in it.
Marvin Shilmer Just wanted to say how much I appreciate all your hard work on Jehovah's Witnesses and the blood transfusion issue.
as i turn things over in my mind, one jw lie stands out.. that god doesn't listen to all prayers.
unless i have it wrong, and i don't think i do, jw's believe, and have been endlessly, ruthlessly taught, that only those living by "jehovah's righteous standards"...that awful glib phrase again...will get their prayers listened to.
in other words, god looks at the number the person is calling from, so to speak, checks who it is, looks him up in his book of misdeeds, and angrily slams the phone down.. the jehovah god of the wt is petty and mean-minded.
But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of trouble . Zion's Watch Tower 1894 July 15 p.226
I knew an elder that saved a man's life.
The man was being beaten up by thugs when the elder said, 'That's enough boys!'
